Overview
The BR680 is a portable repeater for situations where coverage has to move. It is a self-contained unit that can be carried on a backpack harness, wall-mounted at a temporary site or placed in a vehicle, without a permanent installation.
Positioning and deployment
- Product type: a self-contained portable repeater, with no rack or cabinet.
- Role: coverage follows the job instead of staying in an equipment room.
- Carry options: backpack harness, wall bracket or vehicle.
- Setup: it is brought into service without permanent installation.
- Typical use: temporary sites, events, emergency work and teams that keep moving.
- Fixed alternative: no rack and no cabinet power feed, and it packs up for the next job.
Repeating principle
- Principle: single-frequency point repeating with same-frequency simulcast.
- Frequency economy: one frequency point instead of a separate transmit and receive pair.
- Planning benefit: the frequency plan stays simple where coordination is tight.
- First decisions: the frequency point and the antenna arrangement.
- Licence check: both are confirmed against the licence held by the user.
Networking
- IP interconnection: several units or several sites join one network.
- Reach: coverage is not limited to what a single repeater reaches.
- Simulcast extension: more than one unit covers a larger area on one channel.
- Deployment scale: a temporary network can extend from one building to a whole site.
- Unit count: plan the number of units against the area to cover.
Audio and security
- AI noise cancellation: engines, machinery and wind are suppressed before retransmission.
- Clearer audio: repeated speech stays clearer than through a conventional chain.
- Voice encryption: advanced encryption protects traffic from scanner monitoring.
- Sensitive work: suited to security, event and emergency tasks.
Power and field features
- Backup power: a backup supply is provided for work away from mains.
- Operating time: long enough for extended work and a full shift.
- Independence: the repeater can run without the site electrical supply.
- IP68 protection: built for outdoor and wet conditions, though connectors and antenna still need protection.
- Bluetooth: local configuration and accessory use are easier on site.
- Satellite positioning: the network can identify where each unit is deployed.
Ordering
- Frequency and licence: confirm the frequency point and the licence under which the network operates.
- Antenna: confirm the field antenna, including whether a mast or high position is needed.
- Scale: confirm how many units cover the area.
- Networking: decide whether IP interconnection is part of the design.
- Deployment: choose wall mount for a semi-permanent position or backpack for moving teams.
- Readiness: confirm these points before ordering and the unit arrives ready for the job.

Frequently asked questions
Click a question to see the answer
What does single-frequency repeating mean for our licence?
The repeater works on one frequency point rather than a separate transmit and receive pair, which keeps the frequency plan simple. What the licence has to cover depends on the market, so tell us where the unit will operate and which channel you hold, and we will confirm the arrangement before the order is placed.
How is it deployed and carried?
The unit supports wall-mount deployment for a semi-permanent position and backpack (body-worn) deployment for moving teams. Choose at order time, since the mounting arrangement follows from how the repeater will be used.
How long does it run without mains power?
The unit has a backup power supply and an extended operating time designed for long deployments away from mains. How long it lasts in practice depends on the duty cycle of the site and the power level used, so tell us how the repeater will work each day and we will confirm the arrangement.
What antenna should we use in the field?
That follows from the frequency point, the area to be covered and how high the antenna can be raised. A portable repeater usually needs its antenna elevated as much as the site allows, so tell us the terrain and whether a mast is available and we will specify the antenna with the unit.
Can several units work together?
Yes. IP interconnection joins several units or sites into one network, and same-frequency simulcast allows a larger area to be covered on one channel with more than one unit. Plan the number of units against the area you need to cover.
Is IP68 rating enough for outdoor use?
IP68 means the unit is built for outdoor and wet conditions. In service, keep the connectors and the antenna connection properly protected and inspect them as part of routine maintenance, since water ingress in a portable deployment usually happens at the connectors rather than through the housing.
