Overview
The TC338D is a DMR digital handheld that brings encryption, recording and a rugged body to site teams without requiring a system project. It covers VHF 136-174 MHz or UHF 400-480 MHz, is rated IP67 and charges over Type-C.
Positioning and charging
- Field-ready power: 7.4 V DC supply; Type-C charging uses the same cable as a phone.
- Fewer charging accessories: no dedicated cradle for every handset, and one spare power bank can keep a patrol running.
- Rugged by default: IP67 body for outdoor patrol, industrial yards, ports and wash-down food areas.
- Simple deployment: no separate charging infrastructure is needed on site.
Configuration choices
- Three variables: output power, channel capacity and battery capacity differ by version.
- Entry version: 5 W, 128 channels in 8 zones, 2500 mAh battery.
- Top version: 10 W, 512 channels in 32 zones, 2800 mAh battery.
- How to choose: the lower-power version suits a site team; the higher-power, higher-capacity version suits large compounds or multi-department channel plans and saves repeated reprogramming.
- Physical: 126.5 x 57 x 37.9 mm, 0.35 kg; rated talk range 1-10 km under typical conditions.
Core radio functions
- Repeater capable: coverage extends beyond handheld-to-handheld range without replacing the radios.
- AES256 encryption: protects voice traffic.
- Remote monitoring: a supervisor can hear what is happening around a radio when the user cannot answer.
- Remote activate and kill: a lost or misused handset can be managed from dispatch instead of being physically retrieved.
Recording and accountability
- 500-hour recording: supports incident review, shift handover and disputes.
- SMS messaging: sends short written instructions.
- Low battery reminder: avoids discovering a dead handset at the start of a shift.
- VOX and alarm: hands-free transmission plus an emergency alarm.
- Auditable tool: turns the radio into a record source a duty manager can check, not just a carried device.
Durability and ordering
- IP67 protection: dust cannot enter and the radio survives short-term immersion.
- Type-C port: fewer proprietary accessories to stock.
- Frequency version: confirm the version that matches the licence in the destination country.
- Configuration and programming: choose the configuration for each role and plan channel programming.
- Licensing: handled locally by the operator; we provide the technical documentation for the application.
- OEM and order: tell us the market, roles, branding and packaging needs; we confirm configuration, MOQ and lead time.

Frequently asked questions
Click a question to see the answer
Which version should I order — 5 W or 10 W?
The versions also differ in channel capacity and battery capacity: the 5 W version comes with 128 channels in 8 zones and a 2500 mAh pack, while the 10 W version has 512 channels in 32 zones and a 2800 mAh pack. Match the higher-power version to supervisors and large compounds, and the other to the general fleet. Tell us the roles you are equipping and we will confirm.
Do we need a licence to use it?
Licensed channels must be covered by a licence held in the name of the operating company or individual in the destination country; the application is usually handled locally by the importer or operator. We supply the technical documentation needed for it.
How far can it reach, and can coverage be extended?
Under typical conditions the model is rated for 1-10 km, which assumes favourable open conditions; buildings and terrain reduce it. Because the radio is repeater capable, coverage across a large site can be extended with a repeater instead of buying a different handset.
Is it compatible with our existing DMR fleet?
It is a DMR radio with AES256 encryption. Interoperability depends on the standard, encryption keys and channel programming used in your existing fleet — send us the details of the equipment you need to work with and we will confirm.
Can we order with our own logo and packaging?
OEM and ODM support is available. Send the logo files, packaging requirements and target quantity, and our team will confirm what can be customised on this model.
What are the minimum order quantity and lead time?
They depend on the configuration, frequency version, accessory list and quantity, so both are confirmed in the quotation rather than stated as a fixed number here.
